Susan Rees

DIRECTOR OF NATIONAL POLICY

Susan Rees is Director of National Policy, focusing primarily on employment and training, income security and fiscal policy. Formerly, she was director of policy and research at the McAuley Institute, national women’s housing organization, and executive director of the Coalition on Human Needs. Susan led the successful “Untax the Poor” campaign in 1986 and is the author of How the Poor Would Remedy Poverty and Effective Nonprofit Advocacy. She has consulted with foundations and non-profits in Washington and across the country. Early in her career, Susan was a reporter at the Quincy (Ill.) Herald-Whig. Susan holds a Bachelor of Journalism from Marquette University in Milwaukee and a Master’s in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
