Workforce Investment Council

WOW Provides Technical Assistance to the Workforce Investment Council

WOW was Appointed to Serve on the Executive Committee

Working with the Executive Director of the WIC to improve policies affecting how training providers become eligible to receive referrals from the One-Stop system and strategies to monitor their performance.

WOW also Serves on Three Sub-committees:

  • Labor Market Development
Providing information from our national project on Workforce Investment Board (WIB) best practices as the WIC implements its own best practices project. WOW’s contribution will focus on how WIBs are incorporating the Self-Sufficiency Standard into their policies and programs.
  • Universal Access to Employment
Working with the Universal Access committee to implement the policies recommended in the Business Plan addendum concerning individuals with limited English proficiency and individuals with disabilities and expanding their goals to foster greater access for women to the higher paying jobs and job training programs.
  • One-Stop Center Oversight
The DC WIC has a mandate resulting from the two-year business plan to define and incorporate self-sufficiency into one-stop centers.
