Project Description
What is Economic Security for Survivors?
Resources
Policy

Providing survivors with services and resources to assist them in building their economic security is vital to their ability to recoup losses that result from economic abuse. Making economic security information readily available to survivors of intimate violence requires a systemic approach committed to improving their economic security and increasing their safety.

Building economic security involves empowering survivors and can lead to:

  • Agency/Decision-Making Authority
  • Independence from the Offender
  • Income Security
  • Permanent Housing
  • Management/Nurturing of Family
  • Building Income & Assets
  • Stability & Restoration

WOW’s tools of income adequacy can help survivors determine the income required to meet their basic needs without public or private supports and include costs associated with housing, childcare, healthcare, food, transportation and miscellaneous expenses.

WOW also provides information, education, technical assistance and advocacy designed to assist women in gaining access to equal employment opportunities, building their own economic security through micro-business and breaking down the systemic barriers that keep women from enjoying equal employment opportunities.
