Women and Work

The goals of WOW have always been to provide the services needed by women to gain access to equal employment opportunities, and to break down the systemic barriers that keep women from enjoying equal employment opportunities. WOW has retained its emphasis on disseminating public information, education, and advocacy that is designed to reach policymakers in and out of government.

WOW continues to launch special initiatives that focus on women as well as retain some of the historical information and technical assistance.

» Special initiatives:

  • WOW is currently working in the Southeast region to increase the advocacy skills of low-income women and girls in rural areas working to promote economic and social justice agendas rooted in the principles of the Family Economic Self-Sufficiency (FESS) Project.

» Work4Women:

  • Work 4 Women was a technical assistance project to help women and girls, and the educators and workforce development professionals working on their behalf, increase women's access and advancement in high-wage nontraditional occupations.
Information from this project has been compressed and can be found by clicking on the link above.

Workplace Solutions:

  • Workplace Solutions was a Web-based, technical assistance network and service to help employers and unions increase the access of women to apprenticeships and nontraditional employment, and to enhance their success and retention and to prevent sexual harassment on the job. Compressed information from this critical project is forthcoming.
